My surprise in the mirror

This is the picture I took in the beme change rooms when I was so surprised that now I can see the weight loss!

Shopping is fun!

Yesterday and today I went shopping, as much as I don't want to spend money on clothes that won't fit long i had to. Jeans and tshirts are not very professional and are all that fit. I needed some work gear.

For years I have wanted a pants suit from beme but even the size 26 never fit, yesterday I bought and it fits size 22 suit pants and a size 20 jacket and shirt. Woo hoo I hear you saying!

But there is more...

Today I went back because those pants are very comfy and I can't wear the same shirt all the time. But they had no more size 20 shirts. So I tried on an 18... It fit! Better than the 20 does too. OMG I have never bought a size 18, granted it is in a plus size store.

But there is still more...

I also tried on another top, grabbed the medium thinking maybe, I used to only fit into some XLs depending on the cut. But the medium was too big, the SMALL fit me! I can't believe it. A small. I want to frame it!

I really got a shock when I went into the change room yesterday and saw myself in a full length mirror (we don't have one) and I can actually see the weight loss. It's great!

I have now lost 10kgs since the surgery 5 and a half weeks ago so a total of 18kgs with what I lost on optifast. Super happy and I'm aiming for 20 more kgs gone by Christmas. Only 18 weeks!

Current weight 131.7kgs

Me at 16kgs lost

This is me since loosing 8kgs on optifast and 8kgs since the sleeve surgery!

1 month post sleeve

It is 1 month since my surgery and I feel great. Everything has healed well and I am eating lots. Eggs as I had hoped go down wonderfully and I am enjoying them a lot.
The scales didn't move for a couple of weeks, I stalled as I wasn't eating enough and my body was recovering.
In the first week home from hospital I lost 5.9kgs, then nothing for the 2 weeks. Then in the last week I have lost a couple more kgs. This morning I weighed in at 133.8kgs. I love everytime the scales show a lower number as it means I am lighter than I have been as an adult, each time is a new woo hoo time for me.
I know I have had an easier time than many others. But I am a good healer so that helps. many are still in lots of pain and struggling to drink. I can drink at a normal pace now, it no longer takes me over an hour to sip my protein drink. And in relation to food I can eat a lot of different things. I still have a week of soft foods but I kind of missed the puree stage, I cut my food into tiny bits and chewed heaps so I figure my teeth pureed it.
My favourites at the moment, especially for lunch are a little tuna can on cruskits (2), I can just get that in for lunch or a tiny baked beans can. It is all about protein (and fiber) so I find myself taking a long time in the supermarket comparing brands etc. A side note, Weight Watchers tiny baked beans cans in the 4 pack are cheapest, and have the same amount of protein but less calories and heaps less salt. No one needs salt.
I have also discovered a great snack! Mini Baybel cheese lite, They have heaps of protein and only 50 calories and so yum. But the lite version has a lot more protein.
Hubby and I hae also started making smoothies each night. I bought a bright green Kenwood blender that I love and we make smooties with protein powder. I have a soy allergy so am in the process of trying different protein powders. Just so you know, Pea Protein is horrible.

I had to go shopping last week, my jeans kept falling down, they are a size 26 and I used to have to lie down on the bed to zip them up. I bought size 22's and they fit and I don't even have to lie down. My top size has gone down from a 24 to a 20 also. Loving it, My sleeve is the best!

Surgery has happened!

So it is Tuesday 17th of July 2012, and I am sitting the hospital. I had my sleeve operation on Saturday the 14th of July and everything went well.
My total optifast weight loss was 8kgs on the dot. I awoke from surgery with a nasal tube, 2 drainage tubes into my belly and another little on on my belly just under the skin. Day 1 was pretty sleepy, I was happy to accept all the pain meds but a bit disappointed I didn't get a self administer pain button but I survived.
On the Sunday I had an xray with a dye that i swallowed to check for leaks and it was all good so they pulled out the nasal tube, what a relief that was. It really isn't a nice thing. They also took out one of the deep belly drain tubes. Monday night my iv was turned off as I am now drinking and handling the liquids well enough, and then today the other tubes have all come out. I feel free!
I have been put on a bariatric diet which consists of high protein drinks. Some are OK, some not. But they are important for healing. Would be good if I could get a bit of ice cream as the cold is nice. But I shall send hubby past the shop tomorrow for me.
Pain wise i feel well today, Yesterday also, but then i went for a walk around the hospital and ended up sore last night. I haven't had any pain meds since about 11pm last night so happy about that.
Today I am going to finish watching the shows I downloaded onto my laptop before I head home tomorrow back to reality.
I am eager to weigh myself when I get home, whilst I know I am bloated I also didn't have anything to drink or eat for a few days.
Once I get home thee liquids stage kicks in, soups and sustagen... I am looking forward to the mushy stage when I can have scrambled eggs. MMMM eggs. It is still the thing I am craving most.

The opti fast fortnight

I am now up to day 10 of Optifast and I am finding it pretty good. Whilst I am a bit bored it isn't anything I can't handle. And this morning I weighed in at 144.2kgs so I have lost about 6kgs since my last post... Lovely.

My favourite Optifast are Chocolate and Strawberry. Coffee is horrible and Vanilla is ok but I only had 2 of them. The mixed vegetable soup is ok and as bad as the lumps look they go down ok, I just can't get rid of the lumps. I bought some mixed berry crunch bars, they are ok but don't keep me satisfied for as long as the soup or shakes.

I have been having my allowed veggies too, started off with carrot, celery and capsicum sticks, then steamed veggies. Pretty boring. So I did a mix of chopped tomatoes, garlic, pepper and mixed herbs. It was really good. Last night I did stir fried veggies with a bit of soy sauce but the sauce has upset me and the saltiness has caused me to put on 300grams since yesterday morning. I was told once I was allergic to soy but never knew what it did to me, i guess now I know.

Tonight I am having tomato, onion and zuccini cooked together... mmmm yummy!

I am very eager for Saturday to hurry up. I am not scared or nervous, just anxious to get it started.
3 and a half days to go though and then I shall be sleeved.

I have the date!

Yesterday I saw the surgeon and my surgery has been scheduled for the 14th of July... Gulp... but all good. I am currently enjoying my favourites. I had Japanese while out with mum yesterday, will be going to our local Chinese shop on Friday and Hog's Breath on Saturday. Then next week I start the dreaded optifast.

Bonus... The 14th is a saturday which means that hubby can take me to the hospital and hang around with me until I come out of surgery. Woo Hoo!

I need to do the optifast for 2 weeks at least before the surgery. So just their shakes and soup and my allowed daily vegetables. I am not looking forward to the optifast fortnight but it is necessary so I shall survive. It is only 2 weeks after all.

So weight yesterday was 150.2kgs... Yes I have put some on but I shall loose it pretty quick once the optifast starts.

I shall enjoy my food funeral until then!
